america - where people don't think you should have equal rights just pecause you're rich and famous movie star.
i mean seriously, he knows the issues, he's developed a viable plan to get things back on track, he basically won his debate, he has a long history of working to improve california as a private citizen... if he was a business owner and not a film star, would that make him somehow a better candidate? if he was a software engineer? christ.
"what, a local celeb is running for office? why he MUST be unqualified! let's go hate him!"
Those laughing a California right now might want to watch their karma. Let's say hypothetically Arnold does a bad job and fucks up the economy even worse. Then let's consider California has the third largest GDP IN THE WORLD. Then let's go even further out on a limb and say that as a group of "united" states we are all in this together. The point is, our economies are tied and all states, especially out west will feel the after effects of an economic fallout.
With that said, let's try and least give Arnold a chance before judging him. Hey, I like to grope women too.
ere.mite, if you hate America so much, why don't you make like a tree, and get the fuck outta here.
Yeah, Arnold is a prime example of the American dream. The man was born into relative poverty in Austria 56 years ago, and now he's governor of California. I mean, it takes a very dedicated man to win 7 Mr. Olympia titles, make more money than a small country, and in general achieve what he's achieved. I respect him greatly for that. Besides, Minnesota hasn't fallen apart since Jesse Ventura became governor.
I think California and Arnold are an appropriate match . . . . . really. He's going to beat up the deficit, blow away insurance fraud, and destroy low test scores.
_________________________________________ I would like to take this opportunity to announce that I as well, was touched inappropriately by Mr. Schwarzenegger. In 1986, he reached into my pants and manipulated my schwanz outside a deli in Tulsa. At this time, he also offered to blow me for some candy. I declined his second offer.
i think hes going to do good, i mean he is the most successfull man. he was like 5 times mr universe, so he accomplished that title. even though his accent he still became one of the most succesfull movie stars. when he puts his mind to it he gets it done. "Lets see potato salad!------->"
and becoming mr. universe is really something that helps out your political career, right? since when does taking steroids mean you're a good candidate for one of the largest electoral college states in the nation.

Now that Kalifonia has Ahnold for gov'nor, we're screwed. It's too bad that there will now be two "Jesse Venturas" in the US. As soon as he gets rid of the 38 BILLION dollar deficit, i'll like him and his shenanigg...politics.
I'm neither dem nor repub but I think we should give this guy a chance and see what he brings to the table..
They should have took Davis out of office earlier because his were hands were deep in the pockets of the big corporations and special interests groups as is the case with many other career politicians.
These career politicians lose site of who brought them into office and instead concentrate on getting more money while in office by catering to the big businesses and forgetting the the common citizen who works a 9 to 5.
Give the guy (Arnold) some time before passing judgement on his character and whatever else you might think you know of him from tabloids articles and news reels.
Not that I care so much about this, but I think the guy seems intelligent and honest, so why not... I mean, how many politicians you can think of that have those 2 qualities?
my grandfather actualy worked with him every year for the arnold fitness thing here in ohio. i have his autograph and stuff, i guess hes a pretty cool guy to get to know. my grandparents also lived by john glenn about 20 years ago, and my grandma was jack nicolas' personal teller at national city for about 5 years.
the american "dream" doesn't exist, stop lying to yourselves. this whole thing is funny because it's not happening here. oh wait, we've got a politican who just follows whatever shrub says. shit.
i have to agree with narco...i seriously doubt schwarzenegger is going to do any good for california, but if he can get rid of that deficit i'm definetly going to be an ahhh-nold fan
the only thing is that if he cant turn the state around 100% then he will be blamed for all of it. same as how if one president does stuff to make the country better but will have bad long term effets, the president in the future will get the blame for those effects.
Arnold's platform is far from being detailed, real, or even possible. He is like every other politician out there...its all fluff. Don't kid yourself, there is no way he can get rid of the deficiet, if it was that easy it would have already been done. The entire election is laughable...look at the wide range of other qualified candidates to choose from. If for no other reason, politics is the one reason why I feel lucky not to live in the US. In any other country, a movie star even running for "governor" would be a joke. Here, its only qualified, intelligent, individuals who actually have a chance to do well for our country. Then again....the old bush-wacker was both governor AND president....makes a person wonder....
-It's ironic how "civil" is in the word "civilian"-
Sit down a second, get off your fuckin' high horse (that goes for a lot of people on this thread) and give the man a fucking chance!!!
Shit people, the man has drive like no other, he's a focused individual who has serious plans. Yes, it is true that being the governor of California is a difficult job and that some of the goals Arnold has set are a little unrealistic. But for christ's sake, give the man a chance to make some progress before calling someone with 2 degrees from a prestigious university a "total retard." I'm anxious to see how he performs and I'm not about to slam the man, or the state for electing him just because you have some preconceived notion of him.
Most people think he's unintelligent because he talks slowly. Did it occur to you that he talks slowly because english is his second language and he has a very thick austrian accent? Are you bilingual? Do you have two degrees? Better yet, do YOU think that YOU could do better? Yeah, then step up bitch! Until then, give the man a chance to prove himself before you land on him for no other reason than to follow the crowd of people who want to bash the man because they're jealous.
really can't see why people are in such a huff about the guy. sure he's an actor, but so was reagan. besides, are 'real' politicians such great people? are they worthy of trust? absolutely not.
Don't knock our leaders. We've had a lot of good leaders, though all of them are different. Arnold isn't unqualified, by the way. Just because he's a movie star doesn't mean he doesn't know anything about politics. (FYI, in Australia or New Zealand, a pornstar ran for office somewhere. I think her name was Jodie Moore, or something like that). I mean, though I don't like Davis, I don't think you can blame him entirely for the deficit. The tech sector's collapse caused a good bit of it, but the taxes in California don't help anything either. I doubt Arnold will be able to make much progress with the economy. It just takes time, and I won't make the mistake of demanding immediate results.
