looking for some new alt/rock/industrial stuff, and the radio/local scene here sucks right now. any suggestions?
i don't care if it's old or new or what, but as long as it's not on the mainstream radio stations right now i'll check it out. i want something fresh. :)
...I don't work here...

Arise - Sepultura And Justice For All - Metallica Psalm 69 - Ministry The Land of Rape and Honey - Ministry Rust in Peace - Megadeth Back in Black - AC/DC
these are my fav albums of all time, although i'm listening to 'pictures of you' (the cure) atm :P. they may not be way out of the mainstream like you're looking for, but they are definately worth checking out :) it shouldn't matter if the music is mainstream or not. you should follow your heart, not other people's fads.
why not hindi music? i can't really recommend any particular albums (most of the best ones are soundtracks to movies). you should try to listen to one, and by listening, i don't intend for you to understand the music, just listen to the music and appreciate it for what it is: good music.
karah, valid point, except that i hate 99% of what's being played on rock radio right now. every band sounds exactly the same, and none of them have anything worthwhile to say.
i want to get away from those sounds. and all the damn whining.
ViperGlyph, not saying anything bad about 'em or anything, but even the bands names sound like Christian acts.
i'll check 'em out, but my experience with jesus rock has been mostly bad. 99% of it is just 'let's copy whatever sound was popular two years ago, but jesus-fy it!'. a whole album of 'drugs are bad! jesus, make me stronger!' is hard to sit through. ;)
on topic... if anyone is interested, the dj from the local college station leant me their copy of the new Strokes album "Room On Fire" for a couple of hours. it's not quite great, but pretty damn good.
if you dont want anything as you call it "jeus-fied" then dont downlod anything from their ardent worship cd, but their last album (alien youth) was quite good.
or you can try, Dead Poetic, and Project 86 or Pillar.
wastedpixels: your point is valid as well, as most bands i see these days do sound the same, with mostly nothing of value being said. however, i see no reason to "hate" someone for capitalizing on something they see and profitting from it. it's human nature after all ;)
karah, i agree, it's just that if it's a band who's on the rock charts, i've definitely heard their stuff and have already made up my mind. i'm looking for something new. :)
you make a solid point though, and it's always cool talking to a girl who likes heavier rock than i do. :D

they'll get in your head, and twist themselves around your brain, you'll have to try to beat them out with a stick, but it won't work, they like sticks, they'll chew on them, and your brain will fill with sawdust, and it will fill in even deeper than they did before, and you'll like it, you will, because you'll have no choice, the termites that feed on the sawdust in your brain will tell you that you have to like them, the termites will be happy, and they'll make you happy, and you'll be happy
...nevermind that, holy shitdo I ever need somesleep...
