he's dead. he stabbed himself in the chest. this is quite possibly the worst thing that's happened to me in years and nothing really even happened to me.
not only does it sadden me that he is no longer with us, but that his new album didn't come out (maybe they'll release it?) and i never got to see him perform live.
this is a sad day.

dude thats so sad. he was one of the like five truly talented single persons still alive. and he stabbed himself...jesus. although one can't say this was really way too suprising if you listen to his music, i mean, he seriously doesnt have any songs that arent depressing.
i'm planning on just sitting on my floor in my apartment and putting on his albums in succession. i'm just going to sit and listen and remember the times i first heard the songs.
i'm not emo, i'm just sad.

he may not be your style but anyone who enjoys music can appreciate his talent and skill in what he does. personally, i don't see how you can dislike finger picking an acoustic guitar and good lyrics. just check him out.
if you want a good testament to how skilled he is, listen to "Angeles".

;_; such a sad thing to hear coming over the radiowaves when i heard it today. he was a great singer and truely amazing when you heard him in person. *hugs mojo* i hope they release his last album posthumously....
@neo, karah, if either of you listened to elliot smith's music you would know that he's not about "image". He actually wrote heartfelt music. It's pretty sad how so many talented musicians leave us so soon.
@el scorcho Image is the new in thing... good lyrics are hard to come across, and he was an example of good lyrics, I didn't mean that he was just for image... I didn't mean that at all
