Hey guys , I wanted to ask this here as there are plenty of talented designers who probbaly use a tablet or two. I have a couple of question , first would I be better off with one as I mostly use the pen tool for my work in Photoshop/Illustrator, and sometimes I feel like the mouse is limiting my imagination and what I can do... if you could please tell me some disadvantages to using a tablet, and name a few good ones to take a look at , please nothing too expensive.

I have a graphire 2 and it's really quite good. Theres a new version of it out right now, so the old ones might be on sale. Grab one while they're still in stock!
i'll use a mouse over a tablet for using the Pen tool. Tablets for brushing anytime. I have a hard time using the tablet for anything else besides brushing, from experience.
--- Victor`: hey. if loving poltry is wrong, i dont want to be right. in fact i want to be as wrong as ass fucking a flaming dead baby.
wacom monitor tablets are less good than they seem, they give the feeling they are less precise than a regular tablet, and besides, the screen get dirty and greasy immediately, whatever effort you make to keep it clean,..... and they're damn expensive for what they offer. I'll stick with my Graphire. Don't use Wizardpen, they are cheaper and don't manage the pressure and the inclination, and their drivers are rotten.
I personally don't like Tablet PC's or see a use for them, for me, but I suppose that they'd be good for some rich business exec, or really busy graphic artist.
I have an old intuos 1, hate the mouse, but love the tablet, very useful. The only thing I don't like from my tablet is that the surface is pretty slippery. Feels a lot different from pencil or pen, feels very unnatural.
