I've been Googling on this since I first read it, and his posts are very intricate. However, there are a whole bunch of empirical proofs (read some Stephen Hawking) about why time travel is impossible. Also, most of his plot sounds a lot like a mish-mash of sci-fi movies, especially 12 Monkeys. Nonetheless, a very interesting read.
have u looked at those pics of his time travel machine. those pictures sucked ass. 33 years into the future and the photo quality makes me think he had to stick his head under a black drape to take those pieces of shit.
Oh, if you want, I could go into detail about all the things I find amusing about the story. If somebody had actually created a black hole (of any size - a singularity is a singularity - by definition, a point mass with infinite mass), it would suck in the car, the person, the Earth, and probably the solar system. As he says, "those details I must keep to myself." There's also an enormous mess of metaphysical, scientific and physical information regarding the issue of time travel that doesn't add up.
His pictures are crap, as you said. I find it interesting that he provided no names, just claimed to know the future. Anybody can make predictions. Think about what Nostradamus did - most of them were wrong, all of them were cryptic, and yet some people still follow him. This fellow really followed the rules of convincing people. He didn't care whether or not people believed him (at least not visibly) so people did.
What's ultimately interesting is his limited discussion of anything outside the U.S. Even more interesting is the timeline: first posting on November 2, 2000, five days before the 2000 Presidential Election. Coincidental? I doubt it, given that this person is either a rabid, rabid Libertarian, or just a standard anarchist pushing political views in creative ways. And remember, he's not a physicist, so he doesn't know the details of the tricky parts.
this feels like that other story..the one about the world ending or something..anyways it was a big hoax and a giant ad for this guys book. remember that one..
i think the website was march32003.com or something.
Well whoever took the time to make all that up, did some pretty decent research. In my spare time I can be found reading works by Feyname, Kaku, Hawking, et al. The reference to Kerr black holes can be found in "Hyperspace" by Michio Kaku (an excellent read, whether you like physics or not, very easy to read, a previous understanding of any kind of physics is not necessary in order to enjoy it), as well as A Brief History of Time by Hawking. There are other documents that go further into Kerr black holes, most of which require at the very least a BS in physics to begin to understand.
An interesting site, but unfortunately a facade. Well researched, but the execution was a bit weak. I give it an 85.
Look how many people back in the olden days said that christopher columbus was nutty or insane and that what he wanted to do could not be done.
Look at the Wright brothers... insane and riddiculous right? if you were living back then in those times you might have said that it was, but we all know better today.
There are many more examples of things that we have today that other people in the past might have said is hard, nearly, or very impossible to do.
All it takes is for someone to come along and bring that idea to reality. I think that as nutty as it sounds that time travel is possible and while it might not be probable now later on there will come a time when people will look at it like how we look at an automobile today.
My only hope is that the people who are in charge of those devices that allow for time travel are above our simple minded thought process and think of the bigger picture instead of the here and now and would use the ability for humanity instead of self preservation and monetary gain.
Now as far as the civil war thing I cant believe that because there are far too many things that would have to break down for another civil war to occur. The closest thing I could think of is a race war of some sorts and even that is far fetched.
