Check it out- http://www.vanhelsing.net/ I think the main character is a rip off from the anime series Hellsing. He has the same looks of Alucard, two interesting guns, a weird hat, and trench coat. Sounds like Alucard to me. Eh, post your opinions if you feel like it.

testing, i don't see your point here. Don't you think if the character is the same looking as some anime character you know, then anime fans will watch it, and people that don't know the character, are also going to watch this movie, either way people are you going to see this movie if you think it's a rip off or not.
And i'm one of them that is already interested in watching this movie weather he looks like cat women or whatever you think he looks like :)
doesn't look like a rip-off of alucard so much as universal trying to capitalize on an old subject in a new way. the character you speak of is probably supposed to be van hellsing. the art looks just like regular concept art that's got a fantasy twist to it. and i believe that those are crossbows that he's holding, not 'interesting guns'.
either way, i'll probably see it and laugh my ass off as they try to make another good-guy-who-was-wronged vs undead-creatures-of-horror movie and try to appeal to the new tastes of the younger generation.
Van Helsing is based on a character of the same name from Bram Stoker's Dracula. Bram Stoker was born, lived, and died before the creator of Alucard was even a dirty look in his dad's eye, maybe even before his dad was a dirty look in his grandfather's eye.

Damn! That looks like a fucking kick-ass movie, can't wait to see it. I've always loved gothic-type horror/action-adventure movies.

Alucard is god. Unless that guy can make a flying bloody pentagon appear over london and then attack people with his dog shaped ghostly body stuff then boo on the movie.

Well I hope that average Joe won't take it personally again, he seems to be absolutely oposed to the idea of a movie drawing from multiple sources. While yes the entire idea of dracula was originally bram stoker's, thats not to say that they aren't borrowing from some other sources' take on the movie as well. While I do agree that the Hellsing anime is very likely an influence, it's more likely van helsing himself (sir integra's father) than alucard that the lead in the movie would be based around. While he only apears briefly in the flashback, he actually plays a very large role in the manga. After all, he is the one who defeats alucard, and after all as well, alucard is merely dracula spelled backwards.
I agree with Nevit, but I do think that movies such as 'The league of Extraudinary Gentleman' tend to suck ass. I hated it. There's no plot, it's confusing as hell, it's abstract, and Stuart Townsend can't act his way out of a paperbag. I really thought that 'The Queen of the damned' was gonna be the end of his career, and if anyone here's seen it, u'll know what i mean. I'm a big fan of gothic movies, but that one film was the biggest turn off EVER.
