hey all just wondering what the best or what you think is the best DVD ripping program? i just got a new dvd writer and was wondering what i should use to put some of my faves on my hard drive. i dont care what file format it rips to, just as long as winamp or divx can play it at about a medium-high quality. thanks in advance
dude, it takes like 6+ hours to rip a dvd into barely adaquate quality. Your better off just popping the DVD into your cdrom drive and watching it that way.
what ever dude............ mabey if your going from dvd-9 to divx on one cd. but if your going from dvd-9 to DVD+-R(5) on a p4 2.4, about 3 hours flat (max) including burn time......... but dude those better be home movies or the independant-copyright-free dvd's. or else thats illegal............
Everyone has a sociopath in them, only I'm different becuase I let mine out.
hmm...if your ripping right from a DVD to a DVD+/- R/RW it only takes about 35-45 minutes plus burn time (around 15 minutes if your burning at 4x) that is, just ripping the movie itself, not the extras/menus/etc. Remember, most movies are dual layer because they contain so much information, and as far as I know, they don't sell dual layer DVD's let alone DVD burners capable of it. But, I know for a fact, that it only takes about an hour to rip the movie from a DVD onto a DVD-R
But for ripping from DVD to Divx on your computer, check out www.divx-digest.com, they have a lot of nice Rip Packs on there to rip movies
:I'd walk a million miles for your love, I'd walk a million more for that little thing you do with your tongue :
if your going from dvd-9 (dual layer), to divx, you have the choice of spanning it over several cd's, the more cd's then better the quality, the lesser the time.
just do a quick google for doom9.
....and guys, at least dont admit youve done something illegal........

Have a look for a Freeware program called SMART RIPPER is rips the .VOB Files onto your hard disk - The Files are hugh tho - 1 DVD is about 5GB But its really fast full DVD in about 20 Mins then you could try writing the .VOB's to a DVD-R disc i dunno how long that'll take - depends on ur writer Speed
AnyDVD acts as a driver, removes all dvd copy protection, using that I use DVD2One to compress the dvd to fit to one blank dvd+-r and since I have copytodvd installed when the compression is finished dvd2one activates copytodvd and burns the movie, total time 40-50 min
