oh god, that looks like a piece of crap. It's so damb ugly. I just don't see the point in this so called "console". I think i could just make my own little case, put computer parts in it and use windows xp and put it in my living room. What a cheesy video too. Wish them good luck, maybe they could fool all those kids into buying it because it has 1 good game, just like ps2 *cough GTA3*
... that looks different that it did on the screen savers yesterday. maybe i am mistaken on the console name? i think it will hit good for hardcore gamers
is that a strictly online gaming system?! How do they think that's gonna go over? Would people rather buy video-games online with their credit card and play them instantly, or go to a store and buy them with more security?
Assuming that ^ that ^ is how this thing's gonna work.

Have you seen the size of this thing? http://www.helixcore.com/twiki/pub/Main/PhantomConsole/IMG_0 265.jpg It's a reboxed PC lacking a CD/DVD drive. I can't see any way that they're going to sell it with the reported spec for $300. Unless the don't release it 'til 2006, which is lookig increasingly likely, if they ever release it at all.
im not sure of this thing atually taking over(especially sony), but nintendo is a dinosaur that'll never change, now maybe if they went software only...maybe
..::throughout life there are challenges.... though without them, we'd be worthless::...
prove me wrong but doesnt the gamecube have some form of endless graphics? Or to a point that most televisions can't even harness all the colours the gamecube is capable of displaying ...
sorry to bump this, but I just wanted to comment...
People said that Sega wouldn't die, but look what happened to them...I know they're still around, but the're out of the console market, and that was all due to some rather ill-advised creations. They died with the Dreamcast.
Nintendo are heading that way...some of the choices that they have made over the years, and more recently, are pushing them futher behind, and with the other two strong brands, PlayStation and X-Box, Nintendo will be phased out.
Personally I don't want to see this happen, because I'm a Nintendo fan as well, but Nintendo are showing the same signs that Sega were those few years ago...
The big N are planning on releasing one more console, supposedly before the PS3 and X-Box 2, which is a valiant attempt, and I wish them luck, but I do see them being pushed into the shadows...

Cartridge-based black console. It was supposed to be the first 64 bit console (it actually was the first 64 bit console), but it looked like a Genesis with 3D capabilities, maybe worse. The games were so dumb my friend and I played one (kensumi ninja or something like that) for less than a minute and he brought it back.
So far he only has Starfox, Mario Kart: Double Dash and Pikmin on GC, but they are all very fun games to play, and from all ive played and seen, the GC has better graphics over a PS2, and practically no load time, compared to PS2's loading of sometimes 2-3 minutes.
Nintendo has created some of the best games ever, and they will continue to do so for a long time to come im sure.
Zelda series, Mario series, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and from what ive heard, games like Metroid, Zelda and Super Smash Brothers on GC are unreal.
Nintendo phased out? they are leading in sales. they have the cheapest console on the market and they are not losing money on sales either. they sell something like 30% over both the systems. With sqaure jumping over to nintendo it looks as other big companys might follow suite as well. More and more games are getting released on the gc that would have never been at the start of the console wars.
Attempts to challenge the gba are just laughed at and shrugged off.
With a huge fanbase and great sales all around how in hell will they get phased out?
imo sony will drop with its bad graphics and bad ideas for the next console.
nintendo is apealing to the younger people. as for me, until they come out with a bloody violent gory game that does not involve hitting 'ghoulies' or cleaning things, i wont play another nintendo anytime soon. Xbox is more for my style. and ps2 is more for sports and anime-style games, at least in my oppinion.
Everyone has a sociopath in them, only I'm different becuase I let mine out.
I agree with ViperGlyph. GC needs to appeal to a wider range of audiences.
Nintendo probably wont phase out completely, they will always lead with hand-held consoles... but I don't see them compteting much longer with Sony and Microsoft, that's all I was sayin a while back. I give them two more consoles, max, before they make a complete flop.

ViperGlyph: i agree there arent many "adult" games, but there are a few like Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Zero (out soon i think), Eternal Darkness: Sanitys Requiem and the other Mortal Kombats and wrestling games.
Im with rush68 on this - I think Sony will fail too. Gamecube may not be the "coolest" console out there, but it is definately more powerful and cheaper than a PS2. As for XBox, ive not played one, but from what ive seen, the graphics are roughly the same quality as Gamecube ones, whereas Gamecube is far cheaper.
Just something at random(me talking systems) (no I don't own a gc so I’m not a "fan" I returned mine 2 days after I bought it). More and more of my budds want to get a gamecube for all its fun games + for the games that are only released for it now (yeah I have a lot of friends who dig the ff series). Gamecube has been gaining in its "mature" releases as its market broadens + They are releasing a lot of good games for this system - Long lasting playable games.
It may turn out to be more of a "party" system then anything else for the more mature audience in the long run because most of its great/fun games are multiplayer things like Mariokart:DoubleDash or MarioParty (yes these games are AMAZINGLY fun multiplayer games).
I’m not hating on xbox they are a great system as well - A bit to expensive for the common market and that’s where they fail in sales (and why they are supposedly "losing" money on sales of the system itself because of price wars).
The unfortunate thing I noticed about xbox games is a lot of them seem to be more flash then playability i.e. the new project gothem, its not at all as fun as the last one - but boy is it fun to look at. Hopefully in the future they will get back into great story lines in games instead of oohs and awes graphic pushing (not saying both don’t go together.)
My friends all bought an xbox because of all the support of a bunch of things dvd playback, online support, custom in game tracks. Its a great system when it comes to what they have implemented (and that’s what the gc lacks, I mean minidvd? it can't even play fscking cds).
Playstation2 however? HAH that system is the shits. That’s all I have to say about that system, I can’t stand the majority of its games now. Yes it has a huge selection of games and is backwards compatible with older games from the original but the graphics are just lacking - I mean REALLY lacking.
And no i had no reason to post this - Just felt like typing something up while drinking my morning coffee.
