here's a shot of the wall i was working on. it was partially inspired by that penguin game, where you bash the crap out of him. if anyone wants to either A) finish the wall or B) wants me to finish it, let me know, either by email or posting a comment here (if you want to finish it and submit it here or something like that, you can email me at mihirrane@yahoo.com). i got bored and kinda stuck for ideas, so I figured I'd post a link to it here for some feedback.
suggestions, flames, & comments welcome. but telling me "it sucks" doesn't really help, cause I already know that. it needs improvement. cheers.

It could actually be a really cute wall, it's not the best. It's consists of mostly monotone shades then all of a sudden there is this penguin standing out from all the grey, and it just seems sorta out of place...improvements could definatedly be made, but it doesn't suck.

reading through your post again belle i dont think your monitor is showing all the possible colors available since you said that you are seeing grey.. there is no grey in that piece. What are your color controls set at in windows?
No, my colors are fine. It just looks more grey than anything else when u first look at it. I didn't really linger on the piece, i just took one glimpse at it then posted a comment. It's actually more blue than grey now that i really look at it :)
touched up the wall again before i fall asleep. added some more details, another smaller penguin (i saw a picture of them, and supposedly they are gray, not black), and changed the bottom of the pic (it didn't look believable last time, the ice shape at the water's edge looked too forced, like it wasn't something you'd see in nature). any further suggestions should probably go to my email (listed above) so as to not keep resurrecting this thread. thanks for all the help, especially from max. just the fact that one person thought this piece had potential convinced me that someone else might enjoy it. cheers.
I think the problem lies within the placement of your penguins. Your scene has all this depth--and then penguins. Don't get me wrong, I agree with mojomonkee, penguin walls kick. But your penguins don't feel at home in your gradient world. They have no shadows, or snow banks to hide behind. They look completely artificial. Give them some life.
