I've just started university [doing a couple of papers on Info Tech : Software Dev 1 and Networking Systems 2] since I'm still doing last year at high school I noticed most uni students in my classes rate RPG's higher than sex ... is this normal, do these creatures I'm describing even have these reproductive thingies, or is this just normal for the studies I'm taking. I'm scared now. I'm being serious so stop laughing. What do you guys/gals/[people I'm describing above] think?
"... in the 21st century ... we marveled at our own magnificance as we gave birth to A.I", "A.I, you mean American Idol?" ...
I think the saying "If you dont water it, it wont grow" kinda fits here.....those people you speak of are probably nerdy I assume, so they play alot of rpg's and have little or no sex.
Let me guess. Your major or atleast the class you're taking is IT/IS, then I'm not suprised. But if you go out and ask anybody else on U, everything is pretty much about SEX. It pretty the exact quote my botany prof. decribed it. She reminded us that on the very first class. Well, I thought that was just a lame attempt to get us excited about her class. After all must of us in her lecture class only took to excape the biology requirement (and yes botany is way simpler than usual bio class).
As I doubled majored in buisness and arts/design, sex was the "order primal" for those years.
Boy I do miss those crazy college years. Everyone is just so sex-charged all the time. It's like the only reason we go to class for. It's true if you can't get ***** in these years. It will be hard for you to get it , years down the road. It's last bus stop before the doom.

It's amazing how people will immediately brand anyone working/studying in the computer field as a sex-depraved geek. While it's true that some techies never get any, I'm sure that most of us have very satisfying sex lives (with an actual partner, not with a "friendly hand").
If practice makes perfect and nobody's perfect, why practice?
You know how they say that dildos and vibrators are a guy's worst enemy? I think game consoles and RPGs are a girl's worst enemy. They practically turn the guy into a ennuch and the only thing that he's gonna be drooling at his his damned T.V screen. Two of my Exs were like that, and it's not only irritaing and annoying but extreemly unattractive, and by the end of the day, the only sex that these guys will be getting IS just with a "friendly hand". Serves them right for not appreciating the value of their relationship and all that it has to offer :p
belle_morte, although i sympathize with you in your unluckiness in love, i'd have to disagree with you on consoles and rpgs being a girl's worst enemy. being an avid gamer, i like being with a guy who plays computer games. games can provide us with something to talk about, and gives us something to do (lan games). it doesn't have to take up all of one's time. as for the sex, it's good and plentiful ;)
Evil will always triumph over good because good is dumb.
itīs crazy enough that we lost ourselfs in something we created. identification, proud, honor and strength. when you see your character running down the road with an armor of gold and his proud face. perfection.
not for yourself. for something you have created. your intelligence, your individuality. maybe you put it into the wallpapers, skins, diablo2 characters or sex.
i think itīs time to "update" the historic tree of humans. we have grown up. positive and negative.
and there is nothing that gives anybody the right to justice what is better than something else for tenthousand other people. i hate this world so much. i hate this country. but i donīt go away. why is it.. why is it. the culture? the roots? i donīt know why it is. i only know that i loose myself in this big ocean of possibilities. i played diablo2. excessive, trust me. and there is no doubt that there are people who more like to play than to have a relationship with a girl or a boy.
but. i had girlfriends. i donīt want to miss any second i shared with them. the care somebody takes of you. the things she does for you to make you smile. for you. because she loves you and not only just wants to fuck you for a night. there we go with the tree. there is no reason why we need to have 4 or more kids anymore. yeah.. maybe for ourselfs there is a reason, an impulse. because we also want to have a sweeeet child. to hit it and take no care afterwards. to see that weīre not able to handle the sitations at all. man... i could get so angry about all this lazyness and garbage.
Imrik : I've been waiting for someone like you to say something like that the whole time. Too bad you've been on the unemployment line for 10 years though ... *snigger*
we live to forget

Confessions of an ex-Game Addict Hello, my name is Gearman and I used to be addicted to video games. I used to play almost 8 hours a day (after school) and atleast 18hours during the weekend. During breaks, I'd easily play for more than 120 hours a week, sometimes for more than 30 hours at a time. You may think I'm joking, but it's honest-to-god true. The very reason why I started doing art in the first place was because of video games. If it isn't a recognized disease/illness then it should. People that let games run their lives don't realize what they're missing, and so they keep playing, becoming more ignorant of what the world has to offer, and being absorbed further into a false reality. I've played more than my fair share of Diablo (1 and 2), Starcraft , Half-Life (mods et. al.), and Final Fantasy's (I own almost all of them). And I know what it's like to be completely absorbed into a falsehood constructed by your very own self that prevents you from doing anything productive with your life. Throughout nearly my entire High Sschool period of 4 hours, I spent more time infront of the computer than outside, talking with people, etc. Granted I did make some very good friends in other states, some that I still talk to, but they aren't people you can hang out with, go to clubs with, and talk with in person. Only recently have I been able to nearly kill my obsession, landmarked by my deletion and cancellation of my Final Fantasy 11 account that I spent easily over a month in actual game time, playing. For anyone that is stuck in the same situation, I recommend you sit back and reflect on your life, and what you're doing with it right now. Thankfully I realized that I was going nowhere, I had very few friends, and I was doing nothing with my life. The worst was when I realized that I had wasted thousands of hours of my life, doing something that meant nothing in the outside world. When you finally graduate college, and start applying to jobs, they aren't going to care that you have a level 70 barbarian with unique armor, or a level 68 fighter, or you could kick any of the employee's ass with a railgun or an AWP. Just get it in your head that GAMES ARE MEANT TO ENTERTAIN YOU, THEY SHOULD NOTRUN YOUR LIFE. If you find yourself playing games than anything else, you NEED to either get help, get a hobby, or find something else to do with your time.
Prologue Gearman is now a sophomore attending the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as an undergraduate Art Major. He's a member of the Umass Paintball Club, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Team Virus novice paintball team, and Team No Name Division 2 X-Ball paintball team. He enjoys long walks on the beach, watching the Yankees lose, shooting pool, and social events with free drinks. And yes ladies, he's single and looking.
So gearman, you think your boss cares if you're a sophormore or an ex-game addict? All a boss considers when looking over a prospective employee is A] you're efficiency rate and B] whether or not when you're in a tight environment you can cope with demands employed by his/her business. I've had a boss for two years before I quit and now freelance whatever work I get offered.

AverageJoe: I'm actually a big supporter of the CPL, though I am slightly biased because I ended up taking 3rd in one of their mascot contests and was supposed to get my design printed on a banner for one of their events (never happened). But still, I think if done in the right environment, and with the proper approach, people that play for teams at the CPL can be successful. It's a very rare exception to the rule.
