I'm wondering if there was a tutorial out there on how to create layouts. Now that sticboy and hermik tried their hand at it and did a great job, I want to make a contribution to custo.

Applying a theme to custo isnt the same as applying a skin to winamp. Sticboy's and hermik's themes had to be intergrated into being part of the site. Im not exactly sure all the details, because ds is the man when it comes to that, but uh yeah...
I'm offended that qwertz would say that I'd stick my name on it....I do hope that was a joke.
I will say this on the matter of site skins: the best thing you can do is submit a mockup to me directly. Does that mean that It's going to get used? Nope. Quite frankly, it took me several hours to make each of these site skins work and the staff feels that with these new additions to the site, we've got an impressive look to this place again.
That's not to say I won't convert your mockup into a site skin, it just means that it's not very likely that I will. There's a lot more stuff we have going on behind the scenes that, now that we have our two new skins running, deserves a bit more of my attention.
Thanks for your interest.

Actually these are exactly different layouts, everthing is pretty much in the same ways. They are more of different CSS styling for the cells and text.

yes we were going to implement a fully rotating 3d site skin that would give you a handjob and run its fingers through your hair, but fucking IE wouldn't render it.
I know the limits. Like content placements has to be the same since it has to use the same script file. But at least I would to like to see some layouts that superficially not have bordered or shadowed tabled cells as content holders, just for variety's sake.
