i'm sure its been asked before, but what's some freeware that can easily change the font & color of desktop icons? I removed that ugly shadow, but the software i've tried can't make the box behind the text transparent.

It changes the color, but not the font. I want to change the desktop icon font without changing every other font in the system. I also want to make it bold. Icon Phile only changes color.

Try transtext, I've used it on xp and it works very well. You can make the text background transparent or any colour you like. You can also make the text any colour you want.
