OK this sometimes just bugs the hell out of me, and i see this all the time happen... illustrator uploads a screenshot http://www.customize.org/details/8968 and gets a Rating: 11.59, for being "not very customized." ok now Neo-Method uploads a screenshot http://www.customize.org/details/8957 and gets a Rating: 82.6 and its even less customized then freakin ILLUSTRATORS so how the hell can one person get a 82 and yet another person get 11? doesn't make any sense too me?

there are a number of reasons for these inconsistencies.
firstly, since there are multiple admins that rank submissions, it is impossible to be 100% consistent, and there are too many submissions for one person to rank (although that would, i'm sure, keep rankings more consistent)
secondly, admins are human too. although i think the ranking admins do a great job overall, everyone makes mistakes, and maybe that was one of them. it would be too inefficient, though, to re-rank every submission and make sure they are all in the exact spot that they should be in. it's hard enough just getting everything ranked in the first place.
thirdly, art is subjective. remember, the admin rankings are meant to help sort the art, but are by no means a definite value of the art -- they are simply one person's opinion, so take them for what they're worth.
check out them screenies again, im not sure you get it, but it is clear to see it is NOT friggin customized. Its nothing but a wp. At least for me, when i rate screenies, i see how the whole theme is set up, how many different apps there are and how they work with eachother, etc.
Can you see any other mods on the lowly rated screenie except the wp? dont think so. Thats exactly why it was rated so low. Too many people only take the wp to mind when checking screenies. Its all about themes with screenies, if you want pretty wps submit wps.
yeah, the second admin didnt bother to give a comment cause whoever it was, was a lazy bitch. i stick by my rating. it's just a wall.
the second one i probably wouldnt rank as high, BUT it does have a little coloration thing going to match the wall as well as a winamp skin. yeah, not sure it deserves a 63/300 but it's more of a customization then the first one, for sure.

ratings on screenshots sholdnt matter, i mean, your showing what you like, and you want to show people it. i upload a screenshot, and i leave it. i only read it about 2 times after that.

I posted my screenshot, because i liked the desktop the way it ws at the moment. No i didn't have ised enough customize-progs, but the colors DO fit nice if you took some time and looked at it. Also the winampskin and the icon's look nice with the wall.
But i don't care anymore. We can't all be (we admins love this guy)shinter (no disresepct to shinter though).
so you are telling me that the more skin apps i have the higher my score would be...well theoretically at least cause i don't like submitting s-shots w/ lots of S running...... i like people to see my background...but i could load it up with all of my skinned aps
what we're telling you is that: 1) you shouldn't submit screenshots for the rank. that seems a bit superficial, doesn't it? 2) you will get a higher rank if it is a cohesive desktop with several skinned apps to create a theme, rather than just display a nice wallpaper (especially if it's one that you didn't create. we can just go to the wp section to see those)
HA! yes! miri- that's it. let's set up a section of custo where we can now rate the raters. that way, when ppl feel dissed they can go to your rating screen, and plug in a measly number, and say something like, "miriku, man, you suck. you didn't rate my SS the way i wanted you to. screw your individual thought processes."
yeah. i'll wait right here for ya to code it up....
would be a nice idea, rating the admins like rating the sellers on ebay. But theres always the troll factor to consider, which is alarmingly high at custo ^_^

I hope you didn't rate this skin adamtt, because as an admin I would think you would have enough sense when you looked at this to realize that it wasn't even a WB skin, it's an msstyles theme.
Granted the doofus who upped it to the section shouldn't have put it there, but i would think an admin would be able to recognize what he's looking at before he comments on it and possibly rates it.
And what are you talking about with the comment that Stardock sponsers Xp skins?
who gives a fuck about what you score? i know i personally dont give a shit. i someone likes it, cool. if someone doesnt... is it the end of the world??... is there a prize??? upload stuff to show the world and let them comment and score as they may. if criticism, both positive and negative is something that you cannot handle, sites such as this are probably not a good place to hang at...
The rating system here has always confused me, for example I post my Neoplanet Trillian skin which won a DS at Devianart, and ranked 4/16 at customize. But the reason didn't surprise me yet it did. 'You ripped Neoplanet' so it's true, so what? I look at the XP skin (also won a DS at DA), it rank 14/16. It's just as much a rip as my Neoplanet skin, but people feel XP is ok to rip and Neoplanet isn't. Well I e-maild them already saying if they dont reply I will continue using their design in my skins they didn't reply so it's their problem, they can stop me, but they haven't they also get advertising. I thought I'd post that skin because it is such a popular Trillian skin.
If you look at the Trillian section the majority (all but 2) have not been designed by the skinner, but by another source. The 2 skins that were designed by the user scored low.
I'm going to be yelled at for this I know any critisism of the 'perfect' website is an evil sin. But face it your ranking is terible and there's evidence all over the site.
So now I'll f**k off and remove my skins I dont need to come to the worst skinning site ever made this site will never be as good as DA and you know it.
okay, um davidian, that was a joke. I did not rank that skin, that was a comment, if i can recall.
and javageek, this is not devart. Thats kinda the meaning of other skinning sites, different ratings, people, and opinions. If you dont like it, go away.
