my cable modem, a linksys BEFCMU10, randomly resets approximately every 10 minutes or so. i dont know why, it started about 2 days ago. now i get disconnected every 10 minutes and its annoying as hell. does anybody have any clue what's going on with it?
I suggest hitting the reset button on the back to reset the thing to defaults and then reconfiguring it to your specs... if that doesn't work try getting into it and adjusting the settings.
firstly - check the site for any help first - user manual -->ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/befcmu10v3_ug.pdf
I doubt it's the modem. Call your ISP or just wait. ISP's always fuckaround with their system on the weekend when you need it most just to mess with you.
well almost everybody around my area uses this ISP, and nobody else has had problems. i've also powercycled about 20 times in the past 2 days...it just keeps messing up like this. annoying!
Sounds like a problem I had about a month ago...I called up my isp and bitched, then followed their procedure at the end of which the service rep announced that the signal coming into the modem had too high a frequency and scheduled an appointment for a tech to come over. (I found the frequency thing to be bullshit, but left my qualms for the service tech) The service tech mentioned nothing of the 'frequency problem' did some checks and replaced the modem, problem solved.
