a friend of mine's dad is looking for a firewall to run along with Norton AV, since we're behind a router I haven't really used any, could anyone suggest a decent free one?

I suggest purchasing a router with a built-in firewall, preferably a Netgear.

I 3rd AvgJoe, my hardware firewall does it's job, and does it exceedingly well. Not to mention there's absolutely no overhead put on my CPU, leaving me with more system resources. :)
