So...I did it...switched MacUser After posting, debating and hating for years I became one myself. Are there MacUsers around here and if so...what forums are good for the skinning scene. With Windows in the rearview mirror I feel suddenly a bit out of place here.
Anyways, cheers all And: One vote for Bblean OsX!!!
Uh...yeah...I think I can make you out...the on waving amongst the faceless crowd of Windows users? The one who's computer just crashed? Erm...oh god...what am I saying? Thanks for the link, if that's it then there is a lot of work to do...a new frontier so to say.
You know, saying that you hated Macintoshes for years, and then basically saying you hate Windows right when you switch makes you look like some bandwagon-loving trendwhore idiot.
Different systems are better for different things. Macintosh, Windows and Linux systems all have their strengths and weaknesses.
Oh, and add me to the list of people who have never had Windows crash on them.
duality is a good switcher...i don't theme my computer any more.
get adium at adiumx.com for a sweet multiprotocal chat client. You can customize it a lot.
DoorinD I have been a life time mac user...but i have a powerbood g4 17 inch. you can't beat it forsize of screen and light weight. Its a lot thinner than a lot of laptops out there. You can get a refurbished laptop for cheap (in comparison) Probably the easiest way to buy into the apple laptops as far as your wallet is concerned. And it doesn't matter that its not a blazingly fast maching because its fast enough to do laptop things.
WEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use windows XP pro! And Never has crashed on me. I use litestep though, sooooo IDK. That shouldn't affect anything should it? I know it makes everything better and faster and more accessible. ONE LOVE TO ALL!!! MACOS kix ass.... XP kix ass too. But i'm a gamer so... the whole xp thing is good 2 me. But for school and work centric laptops and comps... OMG GET MAC! Linux Suxorz to set up, but kix buttorz when using. But only for xperience pros!
Hey, i just got one myself about a year ago, and Ive been trying hard to unlock the tools of theming on Macs, and trust me, it ain't easy. Here's some tips for anybody new to the mac side.
MacNN.com - The forums here offer priceless help for more detailed problems of customization. Just find the Gui customization. They also have probably the more sophisticated end of screenshot posts, although they are not nearly as nice as ones on customize. Windows, I think, rules in this area.
MaxThemes - probably one of the best theme makers around on the make side. Offers a lot of good themes and help. Google for the URL
Macthemes.net - probabaly the most official place for good themes.
Resexcellence.com - God-awful ugly site. But has a lot of good and bad resources. The screenshots are very useful here because they site programs and themes they use, which most mac users have NOT learned how to do.
Unsanity.org - place to get all the theming tools from changing fonts to applying themes. Most official way to apply themes (although there are backdoors ;] ). Easiest way to customize but itll cost you.
Programs and Terms you should be aware of:
GuiKits and DLTAs: These are your VS's. GuiKits are better but it costs money to apply.
Unsanity ShapeShifter - Program to apply GuiKits
ThemeChanger - Free. Used to apply DLTAs
CandyBar - pretty much the only way to apply icons. Shareware
"Unsanity Silk" and TinkerTool - the two tools that most use simultaneously to change fonts. Tinker tool also has alot of other features that are useful.
AdiumX - most customizable IM Client
ThemePark - used to mod or create your own themes.
That's all i can think of now, I hope this is useful for any mac or potential mac users out there. If you look at my screenshots, you can see what is possible out there. This guy named Gerrit out there is probabaly the best mac themer out there. Look out for his stuff. All the programs I listed are pretty much the most useful (this is sorta opinionated i guess) theming tools out there. If you have any other questions just PM me. Hope this helps.
it's definitely not the water, maybe it was infact the fizzy drink all along? who would have guessed.

roflmao at PulsarStargrave, still stuck with that proprietary bullshit train of thought.
...
lmao at advents comment, dirty whore!
...
I am writing this on a notebook (IBM T30 sn:368886m) and everytime I remove the wifi pc-card windows bsod on me, in fedora (k2.6.10+) never. btw it took me over a week to get wifi up on linux vs windows's 10 second install so you're up for a challenge most of the time with linux, thats why you make the switch though ... for the free...sh air.
A friendly up your ass to advent and qwertz. Did I say I look down on Windows or don't use it anymore? Funny that you took my playful sarcasm as an offense, maybe you should switch to Mac if you feel that insulted by virtually nothing. Anyways...
Again, thanks for the links, I never intended this to be an OS flame thread, I have all three systems here, just have a prob with skinning on Mac...lol...so what?
Unlike advent (you shot an innocent, advent said nothing, damn Pulsar), I claim every one of my insults as a victory against hyper-active english and infidels.
...
Bring on the Mac, Windows and hyper-active english flames, btw.
hey i just came upon a great little tool called konfabulator... it allows you to install widgets that do all kinds of neat things...its for mac and pc i believe.
This is for the bright individual that said DOS rules all, thats kind of funny considering how outdated Dos actually is - oh and lets not forget how much more DOS based OS'es are attcked by viruses and adware, spyware. Hmm yep, it really rules allright, pphhh, loser
