Hey all! I got a few requests... 1: Unity GK.. can sum1 supply me the hyperlink? 2: THere is this white, clear, winamp skin... not spirit by stefanka.. name and hotlink??
AND!!! MOST IMPORTANTLY!! A while back, I saw a tutorial posted... should I post one about censoring? Mycleo is pretty pro, but i saw a submission she/he I think its a she did.. the recent one... her taskbar and program windows were supposed to b censored but they just had these large boxes... should i show how to censor nicely??
1. Try asking mycleo1 and waiting for a response. 2. Try posting a link to a screenshot so we know what you're talking about. 3. mycleo1 is Photoshopping her screenshots. She isn't "censoring" anything. Besides, any Customize.org user worth their salt knows how to censor an image.
whoa whoa whoa! I wasn't dissing anyone or claiming that they aren't worth their salt. Now I was just asking if people thought that it would be nice to have a tutorial on it. Ex: If you want to have a window open, but don't want to show the name of said proggy or something, rather than put giant black boxes on something, it would be more convenient to keep the smooth nice look of your taskbar. I didn't neccessarily mean censoring. I'm sorry if my vocabulary isn't up to par seeing as how I'm in china currently studying Chinese. My english has started to deteriorate. Now I would appreciate it if the next time I asked the community if what I was about to contribute to it was needed, I didn't get insulted, yelled at, etc.
I find it VERY hard to believe that a lot of the screenshots here are not "altered" in some way. And what if he isn't Chinese or American, what if he's German for Christ's sake? This is a joke.
@c72: me being francogerman and speaking both languages fluently, the same thing happened to me, while i spent a year in mexico... suddenly i realised i couldn't properly speak french anymore and that spanish sort of took the place of it, partly because there weren't any french speaking people and partly because i was forced to learn spanish almost from the ground up...
then my parents visited me, and so i was forced to speak it again and after a week everything went back to normal.... so, on that basis, i think ravers_anthems comment can be perfectly valid.
but, ravers_anthem: the others are quite right, noone needs a tutorial about selcting some square-shaped areas and pasting them somewhere or how to do a pixel drag or something... that's like fake-customization and that's why you got semi-bashed...
And what if he isn't Chinese or American, what if he's German for Christ's sake?
His name is Lawrence Long Wang. Something tells me that's a Chinese surname. Furthermore, Lawrence doesn't seem to be a name one would find anywhere besides the United States and the United Kingdom. Either way, it would imply that he has a decent grasp of the English language.
Confusion between French and Spanish is understandable because both languages are based on Latin, and thus share numerous similarities. Chinese and English, on the other hand, are about as similar as rock and water.
REIKO987, what lets you think that a lot of the screenshots here are "altered" in some way?
I use Litestep, and although I don't have the time to find specific examples in the vast amount of screenshots here, I have seen a few with both a litestep popup and a taskbar menu highlighted or some other object having focus. Now in litestep, if the popup loses focus, it disappears from the screen. It seems rather difficult to have both items on the screen at the same time. I believe the same holds true for bb4win. Also, I have seen shots with text added to the shot to describe the mods, wall, etc. I believe that would count as an edit. I'm curious to know how you would be able to tell if someone was to cover the notorious tray icons with something lifted directly from another screenie or from another website somewhere, or even something made right in photoshop. I don't think "photoshopped" screenshots should be deleted because this is all about customization in the first place. Whether you use microangelo, or reshack or recolor your taskbar, it's all the same thing. It's a "screenshot" nothing more, nothing less. Each and every screenshot is a work of art. And although some are close, few of them are actually what appears on any given users screen at any given time. They are crafted to look good, and get votes.
By "Photoshopped", we mean editing a screenshot so that the shot itself reflects something that couldn't be done at all.
The inclusions you're referring to are made simply to showcase the person's setup as completely as possible. The edits we're talking about are things that can't possibly be achieved without the use of Photoshop (e.g. stripping out taskbar entries and window titles just because you don't like the way they look in your screenshot).
