Hmm.. if you meant by renaming it. I tried. But it gets set back to the default "Recycle Bin" after I press enter.+| he who will kill the god if given the slightest chance |+ www.GIFT333.com

Try renaming it to a blank space. Right-click, Rename, hold Alt and type 0160 on your numpad.

I think you can just open regedit, search for the words 'recycle bin', edit that key, and the name of the recycle bin will change. That'ss how I did it. But I don't know if it's possible to rename it to nothing. _____________________ ___ Ignorance is bliss ___

okay see if this works.. it works for desktop icons anyway,,, You rename them to Alt+255 (use the numeric keypad!)

thanks, only problem is you can't right-click and rename it, the menu is oriented around the recycle bin ( like emptyinh it and stuff).

1) Open up notepad 2) Copy and paste this into it: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F95 4E}\ShellFolder] "Attributes"=hex:50,01,00,20 "CallForAttributes"=dword:00000000 3) Save it as "recycle.reg" 4) Try to rename it

that didn't work, but i included 'Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00'. was i supposed to include that? and does the encoding type matter?

tclock2 can get rid of icon text. the old homepage seems to be gone, but i would imagine google can point you in the right direction to find wherever it is now. if you prefer to hack, then to do what csae said, use regedit (start menu > run > "regedit") and search for 645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E and change the data in "CallForAttributes" to "0", then try to rename the recycle bin using the right click menu. If you only want a clean desktop, go right click menu on desktop > Arrange Icons By > uncheck Show desktop icons -Aphaits-

You can use TweakUI or a registry hack to remove the icon, then use AveDesk or whatnot to make a better icon... just a suggestion
