Using Custo

Customize.org is the original desktop customization site. For a full history, see the History of Customization. Today, it remains one of the largest on the net, with hundreds of thousands of pages , over 100,000 members, and tens of thousands of submissions spanning hundreds of categories. While every effort is made to make the site as usable and intuitive as possible, here is an overview for using the site.

Browsing Submissions

First, choose the category you want to browse on the Browse tab dropdown menu. You can then browse by popularity or latest additions. At anytime you can switch to the power browse for additional options.

If you are looking for a particular phrase, try using the tag cloud. Keyword search is “coming soon”.

Tips and Tricks

Switch to the dark layout

In the top right corner of every page, there is a small black Customize.org logo. Click this to “flick the lights” and switch to the dark version of the layout. User-submitted site skins are “coming soon”.

FAQ

How is popularity calculated?

Popularity is based on many factors, including many user-powered statistics such as loves, likes, downloads and views.

How can I submit news?

Once you are logged in as a member, you can click “Your Blog” in the navigation section at the bottom of every page. Create a new blog post and tag it with “news”. The post will then enter a moderator approval queue before it gets added to the official news section.

Can I use xxxx for my own project?

All work submitted to Customize.org is owned by the original author. If you would like to use something you see on the site, you must get permission from the author of the work. Use the site’s private message feature or use the contact information listed on the user’s profile page.
