when i did the Glacier suite months ago i also wanted it to be on my *NIX box. pleas note that X window managers only skin the window borders.

is there any way to use metacity w/o using gnome?

Re: metacity without Gnome: The lack of desktop and menu should not be a problem. There is whole bunch of window managers that work exactly the same. You just have to use another application to provide the menus and other desktop functions. Take a look at 9menu, deskmenu, dfm, gtk-menu, pogo, desklaunch, vdesk, etc.
As far as the theme goes, these things don't really interest me that much, I just want something inobtrusive and easy to use, and this theme does seem to fit the bill. I don't use metacity myself, I am a fvwm adict, but I have couple of metacity users at home.

kennetlove666: i´m pretty sure you could, but as far as i know Metacity does not have a desktop or a menu to launch apps, so that would be a rather unusable desktop.
