If one had asked me a few years ago the number would be rather large. These days, not so much. You find that you don't use apps for 3d modeling and vector illustration when, well, those aren't the things you do. 04:23 pm (4 years ago)

do you think it would cost any less if people didn't steal it, and we all played nice with the other kids? 11:41 pm (4 years ago)

It's hard to say. I buy all of my software legally initially, but I admit that I pirate updates. I've given Adobe almost $2,500 over the years, and instead of treating me like a valued customer, they demand $200 a year for updates, add trivial (often useless) features, and make sure that any file generated by the new software will be incompatible with my old version to force me to upgrade. 12:37 am (4 years ago)

CAD programs easily run my bill up. Inventor, AutoCAD2006, Mechanical Desktop etc etc 01:38 am (4 years ago)

those of you listing exactly what apps you've stolen are a wee bit dumb. 11:26 am (4 years ago)

If I can't afford a given software suite anyway, and I download and use a cracked copy of said software instead, the company who makes it isn't losing any profits because I wouldn't be buying it even if I decided not to choose the questionable route of piracy. 12:09 pm (4 years ago)

I wish I new how, or where to get stuff pirated, if only to 12:31 pm (4 years ago)

Theft is theft. Cars are easily stolen, esp. in larger cities. Would lowering car prices reduce car theft? 04:43 pm (4 years ago)

What it all boils down to is you guys are trying somehow make it seem like it's their fault, like they FORCE you to steal it. Like you have no choice. 04:47 pm (4 years ago)

colossus72 if you look at the age of those who say software is exspensive, and those who say its not, you'll find something interesting. those who do say its exspensive and thieve from programmser (such as myself) are all kids w/ no jobs. meanwhile those of us who're older and have real jobs relaize that "omg! this really isn't exspensive at all, I think I'm gonna buy it" 06:14 pm (4 years ago)

I've got some music, but software is a negative. Who doesn't have some ripped music? 08:44 pm (4 years ago)

i'm not a professional so i won't buy original software just to try it. yeah, i know what you're saying...use demo versions. But demo only last for 30 days and I don't have time to test a program in 30 days. But I don't use illegal software to commercial purposes. 08:41 am (4 years ago)

I voted $500 to $1000 but then I remembered all the adobe products, and that my Windows XP is pirated as well. 01:04 pm (4 years ago)

Wow. I never put a price tag on it all. Damn. I don't intend to make profit, and if I HAD to buy 99% of the crap I have, I probably wouldn't. I just collect crap. 12:35 am (4 years ago)

There will always be an undeground "industry" - a rogue element. Its existence doesn't justify its aims. But it is there, and it is safe to assume it will persist. 07:44 am (4 years ago)

The computers I use in the office are 100% legit. The one I have at home only has 1 legal program, PowerDVD. And only because it came free with a DVD drive I bought. Everything else is pirated. OS, office suite, PS, autoCAD, etc. I know, it's wrong, but it's just so easy. And really, why spend $3K on software, when I can get it free. 11:27 am (4 years ago)
