Artist's Note

this is my first submision at customize.org, the wallpaper in this screenshot was created by myself as were the icons used for it, the visual style used for this desktop is Chosen OS and is the only component of this screenshot that was not created by myself. influences for this theme came from looking at a few submisions here as well as a few others. any constructive critiscisim negative or positive comments are more then welcomed but if it isn't constructive cristiscm keep it to yourself thank you.

details on the wallpaper are as follows:

the wall paper was created using only adobe photoshop, the sky is a gradient of two difrent shades of blue, the trees in the wall paper were created using a rectangular section which was then smoothed and then shaded using grain two difrent shades of green, smudging and motion blurs, the same aplied for the grass efects. the sun effect was created using lens flares. clouds were hand slected and filled using the paint bucket. layer effects were then used to make the trees and clouds stand out

details on the icons used are as follows:

the icons were created using a manual star shaped selection and then saved as a transperent PNG and then imprted to any to icon to save as icon files

in the end the aim of this was to see what i could do, whilst only using photoshop, and not makeing it looks like everything else that gets posted on sites like this no extra filters were used here... just my own work, and the stock photoshop filters, i knew this wouldn't apeal to everyone and this wasn't my aim. had i wanted to create something like everything else then i could have and probably will if i post more here. also the influences of this are along the lines of cartoonism rather then realism, again if i wanted to create something that looked like a relstic field of grass and trees that was realistic i could have but that wasnt really the objective of the wall paper. also a lot of the colours used on this wall paper along the lines of being pastels when i started out creating this wallpaper. thanks for the constructive critiscism guys and keep it comeing, and if anyone wants to help in creating an entire theme to go with this there more then welcome to, i will post up the wall and icons if enough of you guys like it

That looks like a competition for my replies! To start the way is the best thing to do... from every view. And i think it has style. Good luck :)

Wheres mario. =P also, if used with fineness, lens flare can be quite an effective tool.

You cannot have a marioesque wallpaper without Mario. That is just plain unacceptable. It's not allowed! Neither are lens flares! But it is nice..since it's marioesque.

There's nothing there except a very mediocre wall and some all same icons you could make in ps in 3 minutes. Try harder. You may have made it all but it's very very average.

ah, you're starting out, can't fault you for trying. keep working, bud. from now on tho, you dont really need to hand out papers on how you created your images, everyone's pretty much got it ;) btw, this submission really shows how incredibly nice a community custo is, and how far we've come from the forum flamewars and unending shit talking of the past. it's really cool to see.
