Boo. And really... solitaire? ** UPDATE: Sorry for the carelessness on my part - I never read that the skinning was all self-done. For that, I give good credit, as I know it's a pain to succesfully skin _anything_. However, apart from the constructives left by those before me, I really can't offer anything to help - it's just really... I don't know the word. Clunky? It seems to have the feel of a cough drop...? Anyhow, my apologies, a good score for effort, and a hope that you'll not be deterred from porting a better looking skin next time :)

Artifakt, some people are leaving rude comments with bad ratings because it's not really the style most people like. It's just a tad bulky looking. And I don't know how many people actually like that shade of yellow. However it looks like you put a lot of work into it though. You didn't just download some skins, apply, and call it a good desktop. So I must say for all the work you did that's pretty darn nice. All though I have just a couple things to comment about. For one, it's a bit odd that you used a green Winamp with yellow every thing else. And I don't think it quite matches even if it was yellow. I think you should have skinned that to match as well to make it complete. I don't particularly think the icons go as well as they could, and they're a little rough. But they're still pretty good. I myself would find a diagonal clock annoying to read. But it's definitely some thing I haven't seen before. And lastly I think the XXCalc text in that skin is a bit out of place. Oh and might I add that thats some good stuff to be doing on Windows 98. But all that is just in my humble opinion. =) Now to finish, good job on all the obvious effort that was put into your desktop. Update: Photo wallpapers are nice to use, but harder to theme around. Especially since you never want to cover up the great image. I didn't mention it 'cause I personally don't think you can ever really match a full photo as the wallpaper. So I don't really think it clashes with it.

sorry about all the people hating on you. to be honest, its not something i would like, but there is a lot of work put into it, so congrats on that. recomendations would be pretty much the same as Pyro, the winamp and icons don't really match the rest of the theme. in adition, personally i would swap out the wallpaper for something simple, probably not a photo. the green is not my favorite, but i think it could look good with the right backgroud, it just clashes with that one. thats just me, your the one who uses it, so if you like it how it is, the good on you, screw these guys, and keep it.

Yeah, but Pubes has proven himself time and time again that he isn't quite capable of making the most intelligent of comments. As for the screenshot: I think most people don't realize that this site is about customization, and you've got tons of it going on. There's a lot of matching work that needs to be done, but the sheer amount of effort deserves recognition. Great job.

Ok, _downGrave, I guess you've seen the old 98 solitare deck skinned before.
I needed some program open that would activate eFX to show the window frame, and xx-calc and such don't do that, so I picked one that also had a little something else skinned. The cardback's a H.P.Lovecraft old one, from Shadow out of Time, a little boo right back at you, although not the kind I gather you meant. Happy Halloween anyway, and sorry the sight of that green baize is such a turnoff.
For the rest, you all can get transparent overlay areas in good old 98, right? You've skinned at least 10 different apps personally, right? You've made your own Icons, right? Got animated gifs with non-rectangular borders working in 98 without using active-x, or suffering the huge memory hit it entails, right? You've done all that using only freeware applications? You've made one of the two oher beatnik skins that have angled time display? So you have no trouble giving all that a 1, right?
I personally agree some parts could use more work. I'm pretty happy with the xx-calc skin, but the beatnik for example, could be more balanced or use the space better. That's one reason I haven't submitted these as individual skins yet. I was kind of hoping people would offer something at least a little constructive about how well or poorly I'm interpreting Moshe's rainlendar skin in other apps, and whether it's worth persueing further. Sounds like it isn't.
