Artist's Note

My latest desktop.

Was very happy with my last one, but it was beginning to grow on me a little too much and so wasnt expanding my ideas.

Feedback much appreciated.

WALLPAPER: "Remember Me (Revised)" by J3 Concepts (customised)
VS: Nano (Heylove compact) by Whistl3r
Avedesk: "horizontal calendar" by Paul Andrews (customised)
ICONS: Nano (Heylove) by Whistl3r
WINAMP: 1400 gr by Burstnibbler (customised)
-- AVS Pixelized of "Simplisity" by ??? (customised)
Rainlendar: "Generic's Black Date and White Time" by Nylons
Miranda "Pureplastics" by Russellc (customised)

OTHER: Running Y's Toolbar, Object Dock, DesktopFX.

PS: when new mail arrives in any of my email accounts, the Winamp is set to play a certain audio file named "You have new mail" so I always know when I've been sent mail. THe Winamp fades up slowly on mouse over. All windows maximise to the first vertical line on the left. This means that I can still use miranda, winamp and my object dock when things are maximised.

Here is the desktop sans open windows.

this looks pretty bad.. that's not very customized at all. it's just a bunch of skins, and stuff applied on apps. try reshacking or something.

the explorer's toolbar looks horrid too.

that firefox looks especially bad. try getting a compact menu and a new icon set... or something...showing off google makes the screenshot ugly cause of the colors.

felix: I honestly can't see why this is 'pretty bad' I customised it more than my previous desktop, which garnered ratings in the 80's. I changed icon sets to nano on pretty much everything, the only things I haven't got it applied to is Firefox as I took away all the icons on that to streamline it. (I have applied the compact setup, and arranged it into 2 lines of options but even still it's a very minor change)

And showing off Google?! Man, it's a screenshot to show how things look. it's not a wallpaper. I use google as my homepage as I use it a lot. these things are supposed to show useability. I don;t know how to create things for Y's Toolbar, so I used an existing theme. I beleive it fits quite well out of all I looked at.

Constructive criticism please.

"pretty bad" is pretty harsh, there are tons of other ones that ppl have submitted that look a lot worse, this is decent... just a few suggestions: try to use the same icon scheme, the object dock drawer thing seems out of place.. good placement on everything. u could try modding the yztoolbar theme to match better, maybe hack some program files and change the icons... and perhaps a better setup for ur im window

i cant really give an unbiased comment cause you used my work... and you did customize a number of things, i think the only two things that really standout are those icons need to be changed to some nice custom ones and change your "google" homepage, to something that just more suits the style and color... just for the screenshot, you can change it back when your done :)
