Firstly, too many colors going on, like most before me said. Secondly, the wall is ok, but it doesnt go with you config. Third, don't blur anything out, it looks tacky, just remove it altogether. Forth, the icons are brown and they dont match anything in your setup. Last but not least, the fonts are kinda plain/sizes are off.

Overall: you have done a good job for the first time

I understand what you were trying to do by your choice of colors- it's not as if you just randomly decided to mush a bunch of different things together that don't match- with the icons you were probably trying to go for, or bring out, the brown stalk(?) in your wallpaper (i think it's a stalk right? or a stick?)- which makes sense- the problem is just the tone of the 2 browns are off- the stalk-thing :P is more of a warm red-brown and the icons are a muted-cooler brown closer to yellow-green-brown- if you wanted to still use those icons with this wall, i would suggest either modifying the icons by bringing the saturation up a little and the hue towards red a little OR do the opposite with the brown stalk in the wall (sat down a little/ hue a little towards yellow)- though, i personally like warm-rich browns for this as opposed to cool toned browns :)

also, if you want to keep the icons, then you def need to change to a different VS- they are displayed with a VS that is not only black & white, but the look of the VS is much different from the look of the icons- the icons are very simple, stripped down & geometric (with just a slight rounding to the corners)- the VS on the other hand, while still simple, it is a more sleek-simple - does that make sense? There is a lot more rounding going on - and the overall appeal is, again, more sleek & modern - and the already chic combo of black and white (for the VS) is elevated further when seen juxtaposed against the cooler-muddier-toned brown icons- spotlighting more intensly the clash between the 2 styles- which is probably why people havereacted so strongly to it-(both designs, by the way- the icons & the VS- are great- just not together ;)

Or, if you want to stick with the VS- then change the icons to something that matches more closely with the style of the Visual Style. I would reccomend doing this, as opposed to keeping the icons w/dif VS- i think between the 2, the VS is much more complementary to the style of the wall than the icons are. And you could still keep the white window backgrounds as long as you replaced the icons with a set that is also black and white and that matches closely with the VS- although sometimes things that are too matchy-matchy can be boring, this is not the case in this situation- it will keep the starkness of the white balanced- if you choose icons that are not blck & white and/or do not closely match the VS, (even if they technically match the wall), it will disrupt the harmony & make things appear too busy & not clean. But then also change the litestep to match as well. Again, i see that the aqua-turquoise color comes from the turquoise in the wall, but the all-black-with-turquoise-font is swallowed by the brighter white-with-black-accents-and-turquoise-f
