How To Create Screenshots

In Windows, you have two options. Press the Print Screen (or Prt Scn) key on your keyboard to copy the entire screen to the clipboard. Or hold down Alt and press Print Screen to copy only the active window.

Next you’ll need to paste the screenshot into an image editor such as Photoshop or Fireworks. Even Paint will work. Go to File > New and then Edit > Paste. Then save your image in JPEG or PNG format.

Some Screenshot Apps

If you need more control over your screenshot, for example to include the cursor or to take a time-delayed shot, you can use a screenshot program.

The “All in one”

Snag It

Pros: the best screen capture software

Cons: $39.95 per copy

The “Prnt Scrn replacement”

ScreenShot utility

Pros: well is almost fast as Prt Scrn Key, save in JPG; GIF & PNG

Cons: Not many options

The great:

WinSnap

Screenshot Captor

Pros: Both are great, with lot of options. Best of all: the are Freeware (yeah no ads or spyware included).

Cons: Can’t capture video.
