This was an experiment to re-create or come close to the look of an organism thoough an Electron Microscope.

i think a white background and off-setting the image itself would benefit from this. having it centered just makes it too "perfect" and kinda annoying. and the black background darkens the centerpiece and loses the edging and detail of it. the black is just overpowering.

props for the great idea. i've always loved how cells and other such organisms look under microscopes. this one's texture still falls a bit flat though..doesn't seem to be smooth or 3d enough. not that it isn't a great start. :) LATER: yieah they're bumpy but the bumps are smooth. does that make more sense?

I somewhat disagree with ether, it shouldn't be smooth, rather it should be more defined. Maybe that's actually what he meant, anyways, real nice...

I've been working on the technique more and more. So I'm really fine tunning the surface settings on it.
oh btw, Ether, microbes like this aren't smooth at all. They are very bumby
