You have a lot of elements that are not flowing in order here. maybe removing some of them and creating a little more emptiness in some areas would do this some good.

Just a few thoughts/ideas. Use your overlaying 2d to accent certain areas of the wallpaper, or to fill in areas that are normally "dull". As for the background, I'd suggest either greater tonal range (more lights/darks) and use the darkest/lightest areas as the focus of your wall OR spread out the spikes and keep the several shades of blue and go for a more light wallpaper. Right now My eye is drawn to the upper right, the middle left, and the bottom, and as it stands, there isn't really anything connecting them, they just seem like they're floating on top of everything else. Find a way to make them work with the background, instead of against it, and you'll be solid :)
Oh and I almost forgot, nice wall, just needs a bit of tweaking :)

it looks like you're trying to go for that " look im trendy" look, but your use of space and position are really lacking... like Gearman said, try using a larger range of tones.. and try to lay off the stock text (standard dingbats/wingdings)
