Artist's Note

Wasn't sure on where to go with this, it's part of my work for uni, but I turned it into a wall. Would really like some opinions on the style/colours. Please let me know on what you think, would help me lots!

Cool look nice colors and good idea but this is like a rough draft being so jagged lets see the final final production.

The style is very intersting. You did a nice job on the colours. But the execution really lacks. Two different gradiants and the black tree. Donīt get this wrong. Was this a photograpy at first for your uni? Or did you already something else with it? I hope you improve this style.. the colours are really very well chosen. I like the idea. But ... improve your way of working. UPDATE:: Hermik. But it isnīt THAT bad! I mean that was sure a lot of work. Just think about the picture itself. With lacking qualitiy i mean the execution in photoshop (or other). The first bird has a differen lightning as the 2nd bird. and the tree has no lightning. The sun is coming from the left upper corner. So.. that is what i mean with quality. The concept is good!

Very cool. It feels like winter. The gradient on the birds feels awkward on my desktop.. i can't decide whether it's the colors or the gradient itself. nice work though

Imrik is right, the execution lacks. But I don't think I mean the same as he does, to me it's not the lack of work but the quality: Too bumpy, too much distortion, the borders just look bad. Otherwise this would be an interesting piece, although I personally would rethink the color choice =)

I like everything on it, the 2 different gradients, the color choice.... all of it, I don't see where the execution lacks...

I dig it too. Is there some manual for wallpaper artists that says all your lines have got to be boring and smooth? No. Judged on its merits as a wallpaper it's both interesting, original and very useable. Unlike the vast majority of stuff that gets uploaded in the name of 'wallpaper'.

People don't seem to realise here that perfect design and infallible execution of Photoshop isn't the be all and end all of a good design. TBH, it doesn't matter about the gradients, because it seems pretty evident to me that bluecube was going for a minimalist look which he has undoubtedly realised. Again I concur with the view that the concept is good, impressive even. It is very refreshing to look at, especially considering the wonderful ergonomics of the piece (desktop icons stored on the left have a clear background and cannot be unviewable). All in all, a big well done. :0)
