It seems that the thing people like most about my wallpapers is the background gradient. So in response to requests, here it is.
EDIT: OK, I can't stand it any longer. The dialogue that is going on below is excruciating.
First off, this was not done in Photoshop or any other bitmap package. This was made in Bryce 5. This is the stage for a few of my wallpapers, starting with Eau? (which actually got front page featured) and more recently Wibble. The original setup of the stage with a glass of water in place took ages to get the right reflection, specularity and fuzzyness. Each time I submitted a work on this stage I recieved comments for the background, and a couple of requests for it.
So as you now see, it is neither a 30 second Photohop gradient or an unfinished piece. It is infact a de-construction of a previously front page featured work.
Today's lesson ends with this message:
"People who's dislike for a piece of work, that is based purely on assumptions they have made about it's construction, are all poo-poo heads."
The gradient is nice, but nothing that can't be re produced in 30 seconds or less. Even though thats what other people might like in your shots it does'nt mean that you can just submit a piece halfway done. This really needs more to it, how about some of your great 3d modeling added to it as well!
wow i spend 5 hours on a wall and it gets revoked but this guy spends 30 seconds on a frickin gradient and it gets posted and everything. Nice fair website youve got goin here.
Its a nice gradient.....but I dont think it's worth being submitted. I think it would have been a better idea to just link it in the forums or something. MiFUDU: chill.....life isnt fair or perfect....I thought everyone knew that already?
Oh dear! I'm ever so sorry. I hate to think that I have wounded your delicate sensibilities in any way. Please accept my most humble apologies for any offence caused. I would be most upset to think that my impudence may have affronted anybody's distillation of moral vivacity, much less that I may have inappropriately posted a work that is beneath the contempt of Sinthian. I will curb my indulgence from this moment on. Once again please allow me to express me deepest regret for wasting your time. I realize that I have robbed you of precious moments that would better be spent loving your spouses, siblings or children. If anybody dares to request a derivation of my work again, I will tell them in no uncertain terms to respectfully fuck off.
nice gradient but their really needs more stuff to it, and everyone just chill. i dont know if this was a joke or not but this seems too much like an unfinished peice to be submitted -Gaz
From "Wibble," the piece originally using this gradient: "Belle_Morte: [80] I would kill for just the background on it's own." Giraffe does this and gets blasted for it. Amazing. Don't let this stop you from giving the people what they want, giraffe ;o)
You've spent too little time on it and it misses too much in my opinion. It may be very minimalistic and stuff but just making a gradient and uploading it will not give you high points from me.
you do not believe that it is a little deceived to make this style of gradient? I know well that certain painter artist like to make this kind of work with painting, but there...
this is to anyone who said this is to simple, that theyve done this same before. it doesnt matter how simple it is. some of the best things are simple and easy. i mean, yea sure, i thought of the idea of a sleep button on my alarm clock YEARS ago, you dont see me complaining about it when it came out, anyway, its your loss for not submitting your easy gradient. as far as the work goes, i dont like it, not my style, but good job!
