the persepctive and depth of the workspace is intriguing, but the entire wall feels out of focus and blurry.

Agreed. It's a little blurry... maybe I'm thinking from a themers perspective but how would you apply this wall to an entire theme... the only soft space is in the bottom left...

its a good start, try and clear it up and make the ball the focus. give it a fresh vibrant reflection/colour scheme (the one you have on there is great, just make it stand out) and then you will have something :)
