Artist's Note

At the 5th of May it's the national freedomsday in the Netherlands and some commercial on the television about this freedomsday made me think about freedom. When you read the newspaper you will see that there's still so many violence and hate in the world. Are we ever able to live in peace and freedom together?

With this wallpaper I want to express a small part of the experience of freedom. Freedom can be like flying like a bird to anywhere you want. It's sometimes hard for me to imagine that there are people in this world that never got the experience of freedom whithin there whole life. I wish you all will experience it soon too.

Created in Illustrator. I have chosen to erase a lot of extra stuff (like leaves and barbwire) later because it was only distracting from the subject.

I hope you will like this wallpaper, but I specially want you to think about freedom too.
