And this skin seems to be a good enough place to start as any. Just what is wrong with XP's default styles anyway? Is it because MS made them? Thats a lame excuse. All three are easy to read. What good is a style that makes a plethora of things hard to read? This seems to be what you clowns are striving for--something that is next to impossible to read, yet might look cool in the eyes of your friends who are as ignorant as you. You can have your ultimate styles. I would suggest one thing: have no text at all with paper thin title bars and you all might be happy once and for all.

The problem with MS VSes is that they are aesthetically lacking, and the "licensed" VSes available from the MS site are mostly fanboy crap. The minimal look has been around for a decade; I don't think it's a fad anymore. The concept was originally to create a thin gui that used few resources; the idea now is just to look different from the MS "fuzzy fruit candy" originals. I agree that his theme does shoot itself in the usability foot by sucking most of the contrast out of the interface. But to each her own. If all you do is stare at your screen and use the desktop as a giant energy sucking picture frame, I guess usability isn't an issue. I quite like some minimal VSes, just not this one.

The default VS's are simple. They are easy to read. They get the job done. They are FREE. They will not trash your mojo like some VS's that require you to accept second, third, and fourth party adware crap. If your desktop is used the way it was meant to be used you will not have time, space, or interest in what is buzzing underneath your applications, unless you just sit and stare at an empty OS all day long in hopes of being wowed.
